Opened on April 23, 1913, Hôtel Plaza Athénée was originally designed to welcome white Russian aristocracy fleeing the early revolutionary unrest. The Plaza's destiny changed in 1947 when Christian Dior opened his couture house directly across, at 30 avenue Montaigne. This historic link endures: the house operates today the only Dior Institut by Plaza Athénée in the world, an exclusive spa-institute reserved for palace guests.
Member of Dorchester Collection (Brunei Investment Agency) since 1996, the Plaza counts today 208 rooms and suites. Its contemporary renovation by Bruno Moinard in 2014 redesigned the spaces without betraying the Belle Époque soul.
