When you hand a client's arrival over to a chauffeur, the client is judging your agency from the moment they step off the plane. This guide is written for travel agencies, DMCs and inbound operators, event planners and concierge services: it is a selection checklist you can apply to any provider in Paris. The short version: check three documents (VTC register entry, the driver's professional card, the insurance certificate), insist on a written fixed price that states waiting time and cancellation terms, and test response times before the first real booking.

For each criterion you will find what to ask for, then, in a box, how FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS answers it. The summary table brings everything together.

I.Legal status: what you can check yourself

In France, a private chauffeur operates under the VTC regime (voiture de transport avec chauffeur, a pre-booked car with driver). Three points can be checked in a few minutes, two of them online through official services; a fourth sets how bookings work.

  • The operator is listed on the VTC register. The French Transport Code requires it (article L3122-3), and registration is renewed every five years. The register of VTC operators can be searched online by SIREN number (the French company ID), company name or registration number: ask for the number, then look it up yourself.
  • Every driver holds a professional card issued by the authorities (article L3120-2-2). Its validity can be checked on the official VTC card checking service, which is open to customers.
  • The operator carries professional liability insurance and must be able to prove it at any time (article L3120-4). Ask for a current certificate.
  • Every ride is booked in advance. A VTC may not pick up a passenger on the public road without a prior booking, nor drive around or wait there looking for passengers (article L3120-2). For you, this means no driver is “found on the spot”: everything goes through a booking, and it should be in writing.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: a French single-shareholder simplified company (SASU) registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under no. 902 519 842 since 24 August 2021, listed on the VTC register under no. EVTC075210484, with professional insurance from Hiscox. These details appear in our legal notice. In business since 2018, over 500 services a month.

Sources (in French): Transport Code, articles L3120-1 onwards (Légifrance) · article R3122-6 (Légifrance) · register of VTC operators · VTC professional card check (entreprendre.service-public.gouv.fr).

II.Vehicles and real capacity

“Luxury sedan” tells you very little. Ask for the exact model, the number of passengers planned per car and the room left for luggage: a couple arriving for three weeks with steamer trunks may need a van rather than a sedan. On the regulatory side, a VTC has at least four and at most nine seats, driver included (article R3122-6 of the Transport Code). Above eight passengers, you therefore need more than one car.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers, V-Class for up to 7, S-Class for up to 2. WiFi and water on board. Child seats provided free of charge on request. See the fleet.

III.Fixed or variable price

To resell a service, you need a price you know when you quote. Ask for a rate per trip or per hour, confirmed in writing, together with the list of everything that could change it: night, weekend or public holiday surcharges, flight delays, traffic, waiting time. A “from” price with no written conditions tends to end in a dispute with your client.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: our rates are public. The price depends only on the car and the destination: no night, weekend, delay or traffic surcharge.

IV.Waiting time and flight tracking

A flight can land late and luggage can take a while. Two questions settle most disputes: does the included waiting time start at the scheduled time or at the actual landing? And what does each extra hour cost? Also check that the provider tracks the flight itself from the number you send.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: the chauffeur tracks the flight in real time. The first 60 minutes after actual landing are included, whatever the flight. After that, waiting is €70, €80 or €100 an hour in an E-Class, V-Class or S-Class.

V.Meet and greet: arrivals hall, aircraft door, business aviation

State where the chauffeur waits for your client and what the name board says: the client's name, your agency's, or both. For a private flight, the welcome takes place at the business aviation terminal (FBO), and tarmac access depends on the handler, not the chauffeur: any promise of a welcome at the foot of the aircraft should state that condition.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: name board in the arrivals hall. As an option at CDG and Orly: a greeter at the aircraft door, fast-track and help with luggage, €150 on top of the transfer. At Le Bourget, meet and greet at the business aviation terminal; the tarmac only if the handler allows it. See also private aviation.

VI.Response time and booking channel

The real test: a request received on Sunday evening for a 6 a.m. pickup on Monday. Before committing, send a quote request at that kind of hour and time the reply. Ask which channel to book through, who answers at night, and what the confirmation looks like: it should be written and include the client's name, flight or train, address, vehicle and price.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: replies within 15 minutes, reachable 24/7, including nights, Sundays and public holidays. Booking by WhatsApp, email or phone; written confirmation.

VII.Languages

For a client who speaks neither French nor English, a chauffeur who speaks their language avoids misunderstandings over the address, the time or a change of plan. “Multilingual” is not enough: ask which language can be provided on which date, and have it written into the booking.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: bilingual French-English chauffeurs. Depending on the chauffeur, Arabic, Italian, Russian, Mandarin or Spanish on request, to be specified when booking.

VIII.Discretion and confidentiality

For a public figure or an executive, you pass on sensitive information: names, flight numbers, addresses, schedules. Ask who sees it at the provider's end and whether they will sign a confidentiality agreement.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: confidentiality agreement on request.

IX.Groups: several cars, one schedule

For a seminar, an incentive trip or a large family, seat count is only part of it. Who coordinates the cars? What happens when the group's flights land at different times? Will you have a single point of contact? Ask for a written plan, car by car: passengers, times, addresses.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: the V-Class seats up to 7 passengers with their luggage; for a larger group, several vehicles coordinated on the same schedule. For a full day, see our hourly chauffeur service or the private Paris tour.

X.The back-up plan

If a car breaks down, a chauffeur is unavailable or a flight is diverted, ask the provider what they do, how soon they warn you and who calls you. On your side, put the client's number and that of a contact at your agency, reachable on the day, in every booking.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: real-time flight tracking and a contact reachable 24/7. Ask us about your itinerary: we reply in writing.

XI.Invoicing and partner terms

There are three models: net rates (you resell at the price you set), commission (your client pays us directly and you earn on each ride), and passing the request on to us, with nothing for you to manage. Also check the billing frequency (per ride or monthly), the payment method and the details your accounts team needs. If a minimum volume is required, it should be in writing.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: three options to choose from: net partner rates, a commission on every completed ride (your client pays the public rate) or simply passing the request on to us, with nothing for you to manage. The rate is agreed in our first conversation, based on your volume; no minimum volume, you can start with one ride a month. Proposal within 24 hours. A single invoice at the end of the month, paid by bank transfer, or direct payment by your client: card via a secure payment link, bank transfer, or cash with a 30% deposit. Details in our partner program. Booking for your own company? See our corporate accounts instead.

XII.Cancellation

Ask for written cancellation terms for each type of service, and align them with the terms you give your client: any gap between the two is yours to absorb.

At FAIZ TRANSPORT PARIS: for a transfer, free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup. Full conditions in our terms.

XIII.Questions to ask a provider

Paste this list into your first email. Keep the written answers: they are your reference if anything goes wrong.

XV.Frequently asked questions

How can I check that a Paris chauffeur company is licensed?

Ask for the operator's number on the French VTC register and look it up on the online register, by SIREN number, company name or registration number. Each driver's professional card can be checked on the official service open to customers. Finally, ask for the professional liability insurance certificate.

Can a single VTC carry a group of ten people?

No. A VTC has at most nine seats, driver included. With us, the Mercedes V-Class seats up to 7 passengers; beyond that, we provide several vehicles coordinated on the same schedule.

Net rates or commission: which suits a travel agency or a DMC?

If you invoice your clients yourself, net partner rates let you set your own selling price. If you don't resell, your client pays the public rate and you earn a commission on every completed ride. You can also simply pass on the request and have nothing to manage.

Is there a minimum volume to become a partner?

No. You can start with one ride a month. The rate is agreed in our first conversation, based on your volume, and we review it together as your bookings grow.

What happens if the client's flight is delayed?

The chauffeur tracks the flight in real time. The first 60 minutes after actual landing are included, with no charge for delays. After that, waiting is billed at €70, €80 or €100 an hour depending on the car (E-Class, V-Class or S-Class).

Do you sign confidentiality agreements?

Yes, on request. Mention it in your first message.

How does invoicing work?

Your choice: your client pays each ride directly, by card via a secure payment link, or by bank transfer, or we send you a single invoice at the end of the month, paid by bank transfer.
